    what size backpack?

I'm sure it's been asked before, maybe I didn't look far anough back. What size do y'all recommend for your main backpack? One that you might walk in with and expect to carry meat out with too. Tell me your size pack and your own weight, I'm sure that factors in.

I think there are more factors to consider, how long you going for, what conditions are you going to be in (alpine, bush, wet, dry), are you planning on tenting or huts...

Maybe, but that would only be a factor if you were to invest in multiple packs. I'd rather not, and have one big enough to do all, that I don't have to fill if it's a fly in hut stay for example.

My opinion is go larger, you don't need to fill it, but it gives you the option to. For a day pack I tend to go 40-45l, for longer 75-80l. I'm 1.8m and 67kg.

That sounds like my last pack, though mine might might have gone 85-90l.

I use a 65l Ravine by Macpac, big enough for 10 days in Fiordland, anything too big and I would be tempted to take too much crap.

Have had 2 sets of back wheels and back straps in it on a weekender, more than enough to be carrying, heads can strap to the top if you lucky enough to get one.
    Just my 2 cents

    Cheers

    I run a 47lt day pack and a 70lt multiday.

The day back allows a boned out deer and the kit I need for the day. Also, have used this to fly camps and when staying in huts on scouting trips (when shooting an animal is the first priority).
