I use one of these. Holding up well, though hasn't had as much use as I'd like.

+1 Cactus. Have a Miklat (that you know) but the Huntaway looks the part. Miklat has no chest strap (but one can be fitted). Take less shit and you will be fine!
Use the Eberlestock J34. Starts @ 35L and sits really snug/flat against your back with the compression straps. Can open up massive to carry meat. On the heavier side for a day pack but the flip side is wider straps etc. mean it won't move around on your back and makes it a breeze for carrying meat out or when going multiple days you don't need to take a sizeable daypack inside your pack.
I also use a Macpac AMP 25 and a Macpac torlesse 35

We might be a little bias towards our own gear, but the MollyMe pack is quite versatile and you can add pouches in increase capacity. Cactus packs are also worth looking at, buy NZ made where you can!Attachment 51918

I have a Weka 30, good daypack. Big enough for summer overnighters but I'd probably go for the 40L version if I was buying one now. Cactus and Twinneedle packs look good too, I haven't owned one but if they're like their other gear they'll be solid as.
The Cactus Huntaway looks good, any spares out there?
