    Who told you that?
Most 'gunsmiths' can't actually be arsed doing the jobs of gunsmiths of old and look for the easy dollar... Or CANT do it.
Keep looking round... Tried Stock Doctor? - does some nice work on timber.

I think its more like people don't want to pay a gunsmith the proper money to do it . ive had a go, its a very time consuming job . I couldn't do a stock in a day, so it should cost at least $ 400-$500 to do a stock. and the stock only costs 300 odd.

cheers I will try stock doctor, its definitely a time consuming art and there would definitely be easier and more profitable jobs they could be doing that's just a reality
I will leave a post here if I find someone who does them so others know.

I have done them and yes it is hard on the cutters due the an mount of glue they use. They also have what seems to be a slippery outer coating as well. Well it feels like that as the cutters just want to bugger off when they feel like it.
\But where,s there is a want, there is a way. I did one for Brian on here a few beers ago.

Wildman, not commercial mate but still doing it, just a wee bit more now
