Who's running a Tipi , either hot or not?

Have been thinking about one for a while , I'm fairly tall and am sick of been cramped in my Hubba hubba. Obviously sweet as when your lying down but a pain when your putting wet gear on etc .

The tipi's all look way better for space and the ability to sit or stand cook in etc.

Just picked one up for this years winter trips
Cheap Chinese one along with the titanium stove

Set it up this weekend and everything seems really good.

I have a Argali Rincon 2P- 6ft 6 tall and without the inner it is mint with a sleeping pad, with the inner in and a sleeping pad I am still touching the edges slightly so have to try angle myself around the centre pole. Very robust tents though.

Have been in a Argali Absaroka 4P before and that is true luxury at a small weight penalty in reality. I haven't needed to consider making it a hot tent as I just wear warm gear but on a true middle of winter hunt I would be thinking about it

Not at all

The capacity ratings are for them as a tipi and not with the fire

My supposedly 6 man kifaru is 3 man with the stove
Two man in absolute luxury

I would hate to have 6 people in there

The liner keeps condensation away from gear, it does slightly reduce space but it keeps it much warmer and less draughty and saves firewood

Do those stoves seal and work as a slow combustion unit or do you have to feed them every couple of hours if it’s cold and wet?

The stoves need pretty regular feeding
But my winnerwell is under 2 kg so there are compromises

My set up is for packing in to the bush
If I were camping at the vehicle there are bigger better stoves that would stay in longer and need less stoking

when i google this tipi it keeps coming up with the 8 peron? have they discontinued the 6?

Stove options for proper walk in tipi's are pretty limited

I have the winnerwell fastfold titanium which is 2 kg in its carry bag and with a pair of fire gloves which you should have
It's perfect for a 2 to 4 man tipi

Winnerwell do make an ultralight fast cold now that's even smaller but only 1 kg
It would be ideal for a smaller tipi or a larger tipi for only 3 seasons

Light and ultralight tipi stoves need to be feed pretty regularly
The temperature inside can sit around a comfortable 25°
But when you want to cook you stoke it and the temperature rapidly increases so you need to micro manage the roof vents

The big up side is being able to dry out gear in the tipi apex.
You will be able to go to bed warm and dry and get to sleep more easily

I have woken up with -12° inside the tipi
Light the fire from bed ( everything prepared the night before ) and have the inside temperature at +25° in 15 minutes

Obviously not much use above the bush line if there is not readily available fuel
But great as an alpine fly in shelter if you have enough weight for fuel in the helicopter
