Wilderness Axes - hand made from the Urals - Siberia

Been working on this supplier for some time and now have price indication but still waiting on Shipping options/prices
Each Axe is Hand made per order
Delivery to guys here in NZ could be end of year if I take the cheap shipping option and accompany The next Base Camp Siberian Tent/Stove order
Air Freight is an option - but will cost

Prices of the following Axes in NZ$ will be between $225 & $395
Leather sheaths - add approx. 10%

Have half a dozen guys already wanting so happy to add to that
PM me stating Axe name and I will endeavor to get back ASAP with more definite costings and ETA

Will possibly consider discounts for deposit or full payments up front as it will possibly be a 6 month timeframe for delivery.

    Model Photos to follow

Deep in the Urals Mountains is a small company of artisans that have honed their passion for their art over the years.

The Axe heads are handcrafted from ШХ15 Bearing steel (52100 equivalent) made in Germany, and quenched resulting in an edge hardness of HRC 58-59

The handles are constructed from local Ash trees impregnated with Tung oil. Ash is available all around the world, it is the most common wood used to make handles in European countries. It is the wood choice because it has long fibers that absorb impact shock very well.

The Sheath is a Cow hide carefully selected.
The leather is impregnated with wax and the final step is a covering of carnauba wax also called Brazil wax and palm wax, it's a wax of the leaves of the palm Copernicia prunifera, a plant native to and grown only in the northeastern Brazilian states. It is known as "queen of waxes"

@Sarvo - were you able to post up the weights and lengths of the various options? I know you don't have an order open on these at the moment, but I'm looking at these a bit more closely now that the Tuatahi hatchet/light axe option has been indefinitely delayed. Cheers.

    Hi @PaulNZ

I have the first order on its way (left Siberia last week)

Look here at what is still not pre sold (don't worry B - I ordered 2 of your Osprey Axes :-)

    https://www.nzgrhunts.com/bereg/p/kj...54oqpes8-b58nt

Let me know which model you want dimensions for
I will do another order most likely as soon as this lot arrive
    Build time is 2-3 months

Watch clip at bottom of my web page advert

Also there is another 10 or so different models in the Hunter Axe collection which I will Thread up after this lot arrive for future order

Can you let me know the dimensions for the 'Tur' and the 'Osprey'? I'll be interested to see the other models too - these are different ones again to what you have listed on the first page of this thread?

Lots of nice options. Reasonably priced too.

How long and heavy are the 'Fist Axe' and 'Finnish mini'??

I thought you would be thinking of one of the smaller like the "Fist"
But true to form - you have expensive tastes @Frodo :-)
You choose nearly the top two just under the Butcher and the splitter - the Colun

    Details are:

    Fist

Steel is A SCH15- a full cycle of heat treatment with zone hardening of blades.
The total length is 260 mm
    Head weight 900 grms
    Head depth 170 mm.

    Finnish Mini

    Steel - SHK15.
The handle is ash, impregnated with Tung oil.
To reduce the grip of the wood, the blade is sanded "in satin."
    Head depth 85 mm.
    The head weighs 600 grams.
The total length is 390 mm.

    Sounds pretty good.

Would he be able to build an axe to someone's specifications? I.e certain handle thickness, certain head type/weight etc? Or does he only offer what is available in the photos?
