I've always been interested in where things are made, so checking country of manufacture's generally a matter of course.
Where possible, I buy local for the simple reason to keep those skills and jobs here - in New Zealand. I will certainly adopt an increased aversion to purchasing Chinese products but realise it'll be impossible to avoid completely until the existing shift of manufacturing jobs from China to other countries (e.g. Vietnam, Thailand, India, Bangladesh) gathers pace.
I certainly hope the world learns the lesson that being beholden to an authoritarian regime is not a viable long-term strategy.
