Thread: Wind checker powder

Anyone know whats the best powder/ingredient to refill up my little plastic bottle I keep in my pocket for checking wind.
Wants to be fine & odorless ??

I don't have any mates to take into the bush with me to try it how you guy's from Auckland do it, so think I'll just stick with my way as it seems to work ok...

would have been funny if it fitted the question, but the request of "odourless" kind of makes the joke mute

I'm still on the same huge bottle that I bought ages ago.

$1 eye dropper from the chemist with a slightly enlarged hole.

I piece of light, brightly coloured wool taped to end of the barrel works well.

You guys are all way off track here, powder lasts a matter of moments, what you need is your kids bubble making tube. Small, compact and easy to use. The bubbles hang on the wind for a while and sometimes minutes.

Plus it provides entertainment for those quiet times when glassing.

I guess if you take bubbles, you could also take a Nerf gun too

Definately go with the bubbles. I use them, a small kids container in pocket. I have used all the other tricks, string, lighter, etc, and realise now just how utterly wrong they are. Sure they show what the wind is doing at that point, but blow some bubbles and observe, you'll realise how badly you've been deceived.

I use a party popper and see which way the streamers go take a big bag its great fun
