Going to be a few pissed off duck shooters of the container is held up a month before it's unloaded
I bought a slab yesterday. Heard gc shipment not due till end April. Best buy avoid the dilema of missing out.
best goose load ever in the 12 gauge
falcon/h&f 2 3/4 inch 40 gram lead twos
crushes geese at all ranges thru the appropriate chokes
If anyone is after some steel ammo I’ve posted some over in the for sale section, 8 boxes of 3inch 1 1/4 and 9 boxes of 1 1/8.
winchester superX lead #2s were my all time favourite loads, wallabies and geese didnt like them much, hares n ducks tended to die rather quickly and many a treed possum felt the fury too..... the Xpert steel equivilent is pretty good .
that ammo Mark has put up is good stuff, the sportsman is clean burning and patterns well. killed many a duck with the same stuff.
Buggar I just bought some is it the Falcon stuff.loling forward to shooting the old sxs. Have loaded some home load bismuth in 36gram aswell. So see how that goes. I did note the Falcon stuff runs felt wads. My stuff I made has plastic wads so pressure and velocity will be much different.
Yeah all good I've got couple box's of homeloads and couple box's Falcon. That will see me right after opening.
From what I have seen still plenty of the best ammo around... Falcon
Falcon 2 3/4" 35g #4 is my go to <40m duck load.
Kills great with less wounded ducks than #2 or #3. A good dense pattern for shooting winged divers on the river/ponds.
and we tried it on big lake...and hated it.....sticking to our #2-3s that have worked and proven themselves over last 10 years.
funny how what suits some folks ,not so much for others...
the very best load Ive used was gamebore 3'' #3s closely followed by winchester xpert the same loading. doesnt seem to be huge advantage to heavier payload, the 32-34grn works fine and even the 30 grn payload kills well enough.
one thing we have noticed...the last 3 seasons (last one doesnt count) there are no where near as many woundies on open water...it seems most folks are killing cleanly or clean missing now...previous seasons I would get up to dozen over weekend.
I actually some seasons get more birds from pickups n woundies than get shot over the dekes!!!!
the 3" falcon worked well for me....buggered if know what difference is....
Gc order has come in I’m pretty sure
the 3" falcon 32 gram has a 50fps advantage over the 2.3/4" 32 gram
the 3" 36gram is 10fps slower than the 2.3/4" 35gram load....
so differences.... bugger all id say. happy to be proven wrong
Outdoor Adventure Sports in Ashburton, apart from being an outstanding sport shop has a good supply of Falcon & other brands of steel shot
I got a mixture.
