On the market for some new callers, Mallard and a Goose call, any advice on best callers available in NZ
for a up close or general call the olt66/sonderman 66 is still hard to beat
got a rip mallard Hammond that is a great call as is the D.C. Brown Sugar
its not the call its how you use it.
The Olt66 is my choice for close in calling and I prefer double reed types or ones with a metal red for long range calling to get the sods to turn your way, then sweet talk them with the 66!!!

haydels red leg mallard call raspy bit suttle enough for a reasonable single hen quack.
used to love the hammond goose flute but since getting some local made short reed calls cant blow a flute to save myself some would say a short reed either ;)
yep olt 66 is the best but when you leave it at home the vocal call helps;)
Depends on what type of water you shoot over. Big water needs loud calls - something like Zink PH2 or one of the Hammond calls, but you still need to know how and when to blow it properly.
Ponds you can get away with any of the reasonable calls - Duck Commander, Olt, Haydels - they all work.
My son just bought a $230 Zink caller today and is telling 2 of his Hammonds. Suppose it is cheaper than buying meth.

I use a RnT original (single reed), RnT macro hen (double reed) and a GK Canuck for geese. I hunt large water, small water, fields and the salt and find them versatile and produce a good sound. If you don't use them already, single reed goose callers take a lot of time to learn. They are loud and will annoy everyone within a block and so it can be hard to practice, I get banished to the garage. So if you don't have the time, maybe look at a flute for geese.
