    Brown Quail

Had my first encounter with these wee things today in the far far north... Was really impressed with how fast they were, faster than calis I reckon, and they held real tight giving the dog some chance for some awesome points... Any one had much luck targeting these wee lightning bolts?

used to have heaps out home, sprays killed them off, but didn't think they were hard to shoot but do sit well for a dog.

Have had alot of fun with them in the far north sand dunes. Don't shoot many now but great for the dog work.
Also find the odd few in the local Waikato forests.

I havnt shot many this season but have let plenty fly off due to only chasing roosters. Little rockets that sit tight for a pointing dog.

Good fun, I leave them alone in the BOP hopefully they come back in the numbers they used to be in. Uplanders got plenty in his neck of the woods. Calis are way faster

The joys of the californian...up, bang, buggar!!!! The dogs might like the pheasant, but the calis certainly take them to a higher alert level...
