    Decoys going cheap.

Was washing up a fizzy bottle the other day and I started drawing lines on it in my head. Grabbed it out of the recycling bin this afternoon and got to work with a pen and some cutting gear.

Poke a couple of holes in the right places for stakes, sand the surface a little and paint, .... voila "the cheap buggers pigeon decoy!" Advantage being they will be very light and compact and cost next to nothing.
7mmsaum, veitnamcam and Toby like this.

How would it go if you glued some real pigeon feathers to them ?? Give you an excuse to go gather some too !!!

Would probably work but I wouldn't be bothered with such a light weight shell. One thing I did notice was the feathers are mainly white with only colour on the tips so would need to do a lot of gluing.

They look good gadget, with a bit of paint they will do the trick. Bugger gluing feathers on, cut the wings of a pigeon and hold them on with a rubber band. Of course you could just use the whole dead pigeon as a fully flocked decoy.

For your next trick see if you can make one of these. Apparently they are the thing to have for pigeons.

now thats some rcycling i could get behind gadget.
ive seen them somwhere painted up and just put on the ground grey bieng the dominent colour but i guess with our ferals black and even brown would work to. presumembly there was no wind when they were just chucked out but you could probably kite them to if the winds right
i imagine on a stake they,d flap in the wind you could even vary stake hieght to have a pretty snazzy and cost effective spread
