Do I need camo clothing for duck shooting...

Guys, please advise me, that is if you dont think my question is that ridiculous as to distain reply!!! I have been invited to a duck shoot session and have no camo at all...as I wear 'traditional' olive in the rough after pheasants and quail. Seriously, do I need to go to all the expense to buy camo gear, camo facepaint etc...I am so appreciative and excited for the offer of being invited to the ponds I just do not want to turn up and seem a complete plonker. I know you see all the photos of guys all camoed out, so do I bite the shell case and go and appease the shoptherapy god by buying something...would just a camo balaclava/hood over the olive suffice as I really do not have much to spend on this?. I would appreciate your advice...

You don't need camo but you do need to hide your big white hands and face. Gloves and either a face mask or camo paint. If you are in a mai mai (which you normally are for duck shooting) then camo is a lot less important anyway. Also don't look up as the birds fly over the top.

If you do decide to be a dedicated follower of fashion then one of the hunting and fishing camp polar fleece packs is the cheapest way to go.

Do not under any circumstances listen to these heathens. Go to your local Op Shop and buy a three piece tweed suit

Depending on the situation if its a night shooting pond any dark clothing will work. If it day shooting you might be in a mai mai and if your stalking ponds flourecent will get the birds flying. If all else fails I could lend ya a cammo coat for exchange for a phessy hunt.

Thank you, Guys!!! Do appreciate your trouble...have found some camo masks on ebay.co.uk but will go to the shop on the way home from work tomorrow, now that I know what I should be doing, thank you. When I entered in 'camoflage' (on ebay) mostly what was listed was heaps of people in varying degrees of undress wearing tiny bits of camo material, for Pete's sake!!! have they no respect for waterfowlers??!!!!!...right! off I go!!

    Yes, 22-250 (neat rifles, those)

You're on...will barter one pheasant hunt for a pool with a trout or two lurking in it...

Quite frankly you won't shoot anything If your not smoking a pipe and after two shots handing your 'used' shotgun to your insignificant person who hands you an identical one but loaded.

Absolutely all you need is tweed and a loader, thats what all true shooting gentlemen need.....

And of course the labs out of the range rover.

Tussock, thank you. I finally reached the maimai leader!! ...pheasant shooting is so easy...gun, dog, a pocket of ammo compared to this duck business!!

Thanks all again...much appreciated (love the humour)...

Tweed, plus-fours and gunbearers. And spaniels, not labs for full ponce effect

    Just kidding, I shoot naked
