Ok, I have a stupid question too.....

Can farmers shoot wild ducks, wild geese and any game without a license on their own land
or regulations, rules and hunting licenses apply on private land as well?

Regulations and rules still apply, but IIRC last I heard the landowner and one other family member can shoot without a game bird license.

Different rules apply to different species, e.g Canada geese are on a different schedule so very few rules apply to them

apply for a duckshopoting license(at authorised sportstores and you get a F&&G booklet which details all you ever need to know ,plus some sort of gift .PSanyone know this years fee..???same as last year.

Here in nth canterbury we are lucky cause it even includes a list of people to contact for shooting in various regions. Our book covers the south island. Id also check p[roposed shooting areas as some require doc permits ,the term of which varies from region to region.
to shoot on lake ellesmere for me =3
permit to shoot ,permit to take ducks ,permit to take canada /feral geese(although in some areas a feral pest permit willcover geese. canadas BTW are now allowed 24/7/365 however in duckshooting season shooting hours are regulated.

ensure you are properly documented with all licenses permits proper ammo etc because F&G rangers are empowered to confiscate gear and prosecutions can involve bloody hefty fines!!
