Don't need that fancy stuff down here. We've had that much wet weather most of us have webbed feet now and can out swim them. Hope the water gets low because I'll probably need to go to my backup thigh waders.

Saw the news mate, plenty of water down there ya poor sods, good luck on the birds

I hope the water is all gone off the paddocks by then.... weather looks bloody good (e; no rain) for the next week....

Drove to dunedin during the heavy rain. Heap of surface water pooling in paddocks and ducks scattered in pairs. Driving home today a lot pf water has gone and ducks mobbing on more well established ponds again. Looks like things should dry out enpugh that ponds will still shoot well

This fine weather forecast will make the opening weekend hangi easier to manage too which is always a positive

That cracks me up a hangi on opening day ! We have a mean as BBQ for lunch .

Haha @Munsey its a good way to warm up after morning shoot and ready to be uncovered after evening shoot. Couple of beers and ready for bed. Keeps the puku full and the day busy

Lots of water in paddocks down this way, went for drive about after work.
prefer if it wasn't there.

Spent and hour or so scouting pheasant and quail spots last night, given the forecast I may need a different focus than ducks!

Ellesmere is now open again, level was 1.22m

If there is lots of flat water in paddocks do some scouting as you can have the best shoots in paddocks. Rule #1 is go where the ducks are and concealment is #2. After the dawn flurry on the pond, get your skates on and bino's out. Find a ditch or hedge row beside some flat water with enough depth to use your decoys and if you're in the right spot they will come in all day.
