    Duck Shooting 2020

Managed to get out and Tag the maimai before lock down.

Brushed up ready to roll if we get out of this in 4 weeks.

    Bring on May 4th

Good number of birds around on the Lake Greylards, Parries, Canada mob of 50 dropped in while I was there,

Plantings starting to take effect, I had to cut my way into the maimai which is in Photo #1

Water quality was quite good and a large number of resident birds loafing in my area

I've now got plenty of time for prep for 2020.

I was lucky enough to get half tonne of maize before lock down but weaning in same paddock at the moment. The ponds holding water seem to have a few ducks in them and teal numbers don't seem high so far this year. Cant see it happening to honest

Would hate to see the parrie numbers if we don't have a season suppose then it just becomes pest control

pond next to my house last night. Lots of dry up ponds/dams at the moment so where ever there is water there's plenty of birds

My possie is 10km from home and accessed through a farm. It also requires I paddle up a stream and wade about in a potholey swamp in order to maintain my hide. There are a number of risks in this particularly for tyro but having experience mitigates those risks for me. I am being a "good boy" and have not gone there yet but cripes, I am worried about pegging and the lack of preparation leading up to May. I do hope tge recomnended self restrictions are eased for solo outdoor recreation in a timely way.

Have moved chemo treatment till the week after opening. What was cool was the Onchologist said it’s all about fun now. Pity we can’t get here sooner to do some maintainence, some dickhead has ripped the floor up in the Sons Maimai for a fire.

Wow I sure hope we can get stands sorted a whike before opening and that we all have a bloody good one.
Sort a sheet of ply to drop onto that floor as an emergency quick fix if time is tight for access before opening.
My hide is a frame amongst big carex that i oaddle my boat under and shoot from. The cover and frame will be in a bad state if I cant get in there to prepare it. Acess track to the creek will be overgrown too. My duck boat is stowed on its side against a tree so I hope its ok too.
