Ducks in BOP 2013-a week of it!

Took a week off work, and spent the whole time in the maimai with my son. Had a blast (literally!). Limits (10 ea) for opening morning, done pretty easily, and again on the Monday, when we had strong wind and rain. Ended up with close to 100 for the week for two of us, but more importantly, I have 90 minutes of video footage so far. Best footage is of my son trying to shoot a duck when he had a branch of camo draped across his barrel. Like shooting from the hip!!. How he managed to knock it down beats me.
I talked to others around the place, and as usual, some did OK, yet others around them got very few. I have heard some tales of woe from the Waikato though. It seems some places performed really poorly.

I did give it some thought Twoshot, but that week is traditional. I am taking someone else this Sunday (working Saturday when the wind and rain is due - bugger). Maybe we can organise another day. I go past Pongakawa anyway.

Maybe it got lost with my invite when you went up and shot my pet fallow stag. Touche.
I have a F&G ballot, and after two weeks from opening (ie. after the third weekend) you can get a permit and hunt the wetlands yourself. It's pretty slow after the first week, but some rough days brings the ducks in off the sea, and can be worthwhile.

Ha Ha fair call, was a jib tis all. Never been duck shooting so would be useless anyway. Plenty of pets up the hills for you too.

    I haven't downloaded anything yet (it's a mini-tape camera), but I will post a snippet later on.
