I'm almost embarrased to say that I repaint/restring all my decoys every Xmas. The back lawn gets 100 decoys spread all over it, while the sun bakes on the new paint. I have old wool fadges to store the dekes in. My wife thinks I am obsessive - but I prefer to think that if its worth doing, it's worth doing well. Stripped down the old rattler this arvo (the shotty-not the missus), so all good to go.
I think there is some ammo on the back of the ute, I recall seeing it the other day.
Right, that's all my prep work for duckshooting done.
Think I have every thing organized except the dog ,keep telling him we're going duck shooting next week .
He looks at me like I'm bull shitting him again .
More acorns to collect before we set up later in the week.
Yesterday i had to check every thing fitted in the car so i loaded it up 4 doz ducks 8 geese and cooking gear seems to be the limit. im going to need a trailer if i get any more deeks. Going to have a practice on some clays today
I took Friday off work - long weekend :)
#1 Got all my decoys down from the loft
#2 Now all washed,
#3 Weights checked,
#4 All packed in bags ready to go.
#5 All the motion decoys batteries checked recharged, brought a couple of spares
Today I just have one patch to replace on the Sevylon inflatable and we are good to go.
Just need to replace one patch on the inflatable boat and pack the trailer

I'll get my licence on Wednesday I think, then I can shoot the 4 ducks on my pond and the parries if they hang round.
Set up the day pond , 200 mallard & 60 parries . Looking like we have enough ducks for a good opening . Just need some shit weather now . Good luck everyone !
Cause I havn't put any feed out yet

So they love acorns then? I thought it must have been a yarn
They sure do and its a laugh watching a mallard manovure the acorn too swollow it whole. Got a vid some where will have a look or I will feed a duck an acorn tomorrow an post it up.:D
Ducks full of acorns fly a bit slower than ducks fill of grain:yuush: Good luck for the season members!!
I grabbed a hand full of the bigger acorns and fed the ducks they scoffed them back pretty quick.
Don't think the chooks would handle them:D

I wouldn't hyave believed that I I hadn't seen it. Hardly a natural habitat feed for them Dundee

Good trees to have around the pond, self feeding.

Pulled the escorts of the gun rack to give a bit of an oil and the chokes won't move so they are staying in the guns and won't be changed.
