    Hanging turkey?

I shot a few turkey's yesterday and breasted them out straight away. The breasts from the one we shot in the morning were hanging in the pillowcase from the tree for half a day and the other two we shot in the arvo didn't really hang at all. Tried them that night and found the thicker pieces were pretty tough but the thin ones were not bad. the breasts got mixed up so I don't know which are the ones that we shot in the morning. Is it common practice to hang turkeys? If so, how long for?

    Cheers

Only if they rustle cattle or run off with your wife.

It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.

Phil, could just as easily be the age of the turkeys.
Freezing breaks down the connective tissue in meat, so you can always though the rest in the freezer for a couple of weeks.

So if Russia invaded Turkey from the rear, would Greece help?

Not a bird shooter myself, don't you hang them for near on a week?
Been breasted leave them in the fridge for 1 week?

Rushy, you know I thought only the word breast in my thread would spark a piss take, I was so very wrong; you can pisstake with the best em

Barefoot - you are probably right. I don't know what an old or young turkey looks like so it was luck of the draw. The rest is in the freezer now, hopefully that softens it up but I might give it a couple days to chill also. Cheers for the advice.
