Dont shoot your kayak. Or your wang

Cheers i'll try to remember that but most of those sit on top kayaks come with holes through them any way surely one more wouldn't hurt
dont mistake your shotty for the paddle!!!
be sure to tie the gun to the kayak, but not via the trigger guard (least it fall and at odd angle = boom)
you can get (or modify) the likes of scotty rod holders to hold a gun at a nice angle and in a way so water won't get to it (well reduce it)
Thanks Faregame for the rod/gun holder idea that makes a lot of sense
Bonecrusher checked out that link looks like a good deal rod/gun holder included in the deal
Any thoughts guys on the 3 round capacity restriction for the auckland Waikato region this season
Won't make any difference to me I only use an U/O
I shoot from a kayak at times, great for sneeking close to birds, I put a few willows and scrub in the rod holder holes to break out the out line, and try an drift down on birds, my kayak is orange and I use a camo scrim to cover it. Try not to have bright paddle blades, esp not white,
Use slow miminal movement paddle strokes, I normaly try and drift down on birds using wind, current and tide. keep you profile low and stay close to cover bank and willows,
Do not shoot at high birds from the side, the recoil and high center of gravity can tip you over, tie on the shot gun, I use a 2mm cord to a rifle sling screw below the butt. I inspect all ammo and make sure the crimp is closed if not I drip a bit of wax from a candle to seal, water gets in every thing in a kayak. don't have to much ammo out, dozen rounds is plenty rest in a sealed container.
Inflatable life jacket wont hinder you shooting, unlike a normal one. witch add 1" to you shoulder.
I have a hobie peddle drive kayak in Canada, that's the kayak for hunting! once you buy the cover that hides you leg movement, as you can steer with one hand and peddle to power and move, shotgun in hands ready to go.
Mines blue gets no camo, tie my gun to the kayak and just float down only paddling when theres nothing about or chasing a wounded duck, dont shoot side ways though.
VIVA LA HOWA
It is what it is. They hope to reduce the take plus it may stop those long distance shots that sometimes just wing the bird Maybe it'll help maybe not doesn't really worry me to much just have to get used to the swing cos my gun def swings nicer with the full weight in it.
We know there's population problems and will have to live with trial solutions possibly for a few seasons which we all hate but that's the reality of it.
I agree with Happy, have to follow the rules no matter how much i disagree.....im a legal hunter who abides by the rules, i want to still go duck hunting into my eighties....and beyond!
While I might not be as good as I once was, Im as good once as I ever was!
