    Mallard Drake Calls

    Hey Guys,
Has anyone had any luck with a Mallard Drake caller.
I've seen them advertised but i do't know what scenario you would use one in.
    Are they very effective?

You mean the bzzzz whistle? Heard the odd drake buzzing in a flight of ducks that were calling and passing very close, hard to pick them up though unless they are close. I've buzzed while others called just to add some contrast to the cacophony, not sure how effective it is though.
10MRT shooters do it 60 times, in two directions and at two speeds.

Not sure about 'whistle' but it sounds like a low croak, similar to a frog

Yes, it's the same. The drake call I've got is built like a whistle and sounds like a whistle if you just blow, but you aren't supposed to just blow it, you have to say "BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZEW" into it, then you get the croak sound.

Yep they do work especially when ducks get a bit caller shy.My son used it a lot yesterday and we were able to decoy birds a lot easier than saturday.
We found a lot softer calling was best yesterday and am sure the drake call helped heaps to get our limits both days

agree with that , really good for soft calling when ducks are bit gun/pond shy

They are good in a quiet situation like a evening hunt on a calm day.

I use the duck commander one have so for the last two season's I find it useful for wary birds that won't commit. I find it certainly works as I suspect it's the last call a duck expects to be coming from the average joe blow duck shooter especially later in the season when they are getting call & wing spinner wary
