Thread: New Duck Ducks

I was surprised this arvo to see a duck hen-bird with three 'lings running along the roadside to the water race. They hit a fair pace as the tractor bore down on them but I could see clearly that they were big enough that only one would fit in a mans hand.
Early for this part of Canterbury

had them here for couple of weeks now...from last day of season in fact....

I was out for my morning walk a couple of days ago and saw a run over rabbit and thought beauty i need a bit of fresh rabbit for my trapping .. but as i got closer i thought bugger its been run over a couple of times. When i was right up close i could see it was 3 ducklings, they looked to of been twice as big a quail ?

Mother Duck with 13 lings heading to the water race for their first swim this arvo. Must be quite a high attrition rate as I have never seen 13 flappers
