    Opening week-rather good

Here's a brief summary of Opening week

Opening Day- New spot just on side of river, not fed but got limit by 8am, never even got limit before on opening!

Dog worked great, some hard retrieves on lively ducks, esp when I hit 2 with 1 shot which left one rather lively in the willows

    Sunday
Shot a few more ducks in Morning, headed to forests in arvo for pheasant, missed an easy one, then mate clipped a high one which locked wings and glided for 400m (roughly, it was a bloody long way), then Dog managed to find it! I was stoked with that find!!

Then had to work till Wed, on thurs headed to a mates Maimai on Lake Wairarapa for when the storm hit, but only got 1 but had a few more stuffed up opportunities

Friday- Rangitikei- 2 Pheasants within 200m, again stoked

Saturday- Hit the forest for pheasants, hunted hard for most of day with no luck, then on circuit back to car picked up 2 cocks-again stoked!!

So pretty happy with how the week went

I could make a joke about that pic of you with a cock in each hand, but I won't
Shoot it, root it & then BBQ it !!!

Cheers, he averages around the 38kg mark so is rather large for a GSP. It's quite neat watching him stalk in on pheasants, this massive dog sneaking along in a crouch, must video it sometime

That would be good to see.
My old mate weighed the same.
He passed in July after 15 yrs. He had mobility problems in his last 2 yrs I think due to his size. Lucky my best mate is a vet. He suggested putting him on mussel extract for his joints. It seemed to help him a bit. I should have had him on it sooner. Keep an eye on him mate. When he takes longer to recover after a hard day, get onto a vet.

Where were you shoting on the Lake on the Thursday? A hunter was in the Maimai with a dog just on the south side of the spilway(read this & wondered), I was with a mate south of there with two laydown boats, we had an ok shoot, 8 Mallards & 3 Spoonies

BTW looks like a good week...
