You got some nice pointing dogs over there Linyera,do post
thanks !!! have a big problem if your pointer is a puma !!!! You must shoot first ~~
Uploaded with ImageShack.us thanks
alot of countries shoot fur over pointers and setters........ all the old paintings show a mixed bag.
Not a good thing I think Kawhia , fur teaches the dog to break -a definate no no for me .Kawhia are you in Kawhia ?
steadyness to fur is the same as steadyness to feather, the dogs steady or it isn't, at the very least a decent stop can over ride everything.
i always wonder how much of the concieved things you can and can't do with pointers and setters is part laziness in training or hang over traditions from the old country where even there times changed for the dogs role.
not in kawhia but from there.
I agree with all of that Kawhia, and yes, tradition is hard to shake. Much like the retrieving comments in the other thread.
I don't shoot fur over my pointer not due to tradition, but because it doesn't appeal to me. Purely personal choice. I don't mind pointers or setters used in that capacity though, as long as the dog is putting food on the table in the correct manner who cares. Thats why I was interested to hear Linyeras approach
