    Pelican found shot dead

A rare Pelican found shot dead on the banks of the Waikato river near Rangiriri bridge.Page 8 of this mornings Sunday Hearld.WTF would you go and shoot a bird like that and as rare as they are to NZ.Pricks that shoot at anything that flys by are the ones that are fucking up our sport.

Not just our sport but also gun owner freedoms. That sort of shit really upsets most people myself included and tars us all with the same brush by many of the anti hunting - shooting brigade.

Probably one of the ones that were blown over here last year from Oz.

So can't see that they will be protected, but a pity it has been killed.
Would be cool it they bred and we had a population of them, can just picture them hanging out in the Gulf Harbour Marina shitting on the boats

Okay just read the shooting article properly and it says it is protected but I've never seen any legislation even mention pelicans before.

Assholes I was really pleased when I saw that report last year that we had some pelicans move in would be nice to see a colony of them over here, and to read this it just pisses me right off to find out that a bird species that has not even got themselves established are already starting to be exterminated.

Shouldn't have happened but then some people also shoot road signs for fun. Go figure.

Because they made it here on there own they are protected for now.[Self introduced as are many of our protected birds are] Ignorance of the law is no excuse let them become a pest as Im sure in time they will and we have a new species to shoot.

I've caught 3 while fishing, they will dive for your livebait. As soon as you see one coming pull your line up until it pisses off. Can ruin a good days fishing.

    I propose a forum hunt

That is because their beak can hold more than their belly can.

Imagine how many trout, eels koura can fit in its bellycan, but if it was a duckshooter you would presume the person or persons new it wasn't a duck.
