Pics from start of the season

Few pictures from season so far

Opening Morning was great. Had limit pretty early so just retrieved and backed up. Mates boy (9) end up with 5 for the day so he was wrapped

Opening afternoon chased pheasants. Wildman the tinny bugger ended up with 2 so had limit of ducks and pheasants for first opening up north!

Sunday shoot a few more ducks and a couple quail but no photos

Knocked off work and took the old dog for a walk on Tuesday arvo

Wednesday took the new pup for a walk and she went beautifully. Went on point and tracked into a hen nicely, then about 50m repeated the process but this time a rooster went up. Only problem was in landed in the nastiest bit of blackberry around, but no way I was leaving the pups first pointed bird behind. Picked up another one for the day as well
    First Bird

Blackberry retrieving, was a solid wall to start with, legs and shotgun took a hammering

Mate has a pup from the same litter who also went great so was an awesome day out

On weekend went for another walk and 2 more birds for the pup, another nice point on the first bird and a good retrieve on the second. So needless to say I'm wrapped with how she's going

Been a bit slack on the photos this year but here's a couple more from this year

This bird was quite cool, had eluded me and mate on seperate occasions over the last couple seasons due to the spot he was in and being a smart bugger. We put the stalk on and end up with the double trouble sisters both on point working in (that would have been and even better photo), 3 missed shots from the 2 of us he looked like he'd live another day, but the last gasp barrel stretching shot dropped him from the sky

So that's the real reason Wildman moved North

Bloody good, she's still got a lot to learn but is getting the hang of it. Even thought she's pretty good I took the old dogs out the other day and you notice the difference experience makes

You can go with him when he trys! Might need a year or 8 to slow down...

I might be offended by that if it wasn't so true. Taken her on a couple walks and she has indicated them no problem but "we" struggle with any speed slower than flat out! (luckily she's got a solid point) So will give her some time as no rush as the other dogs still have a few years deer hunting in them, and there're a lot easier to manage.

calmness in dogs is just as much a factor of the owners training and demeanor to
excitable owner and half pie training equals over excited half pie dog.
and yes guilty but trying to change
