    Pigeon shoot

Went for a pigeon shot this morning. Early start at 5am and was set up and ready to roll at 6.30am, turns out we were about an hour late as 500 odd birds were already in with big mobs landing as we were setting up.

Bit of a fark up but still got into them ok

Good weather and the birds were decoying in extremely well which made for some quick close shooting. I burnt my hand a few times on the barrel as it was pretty full on for the firat hour.

Ended up going quite very quick and we wrre basically done at 9.00. Ended up staying u til 10 and picked up the odd bird.
Got a few more bands. One was banded in 1994, , nearly 20 years old!

A bit over 250 for the morning, would have been significantly more if we got there earlier but not complaining to much

How many pigeons would you normally get for a "standard day"? Are you always set up first thing in the morning? Some of the guys that I know that shoot pigeons told me that you could set up about 10.00am and shoot from then on (It did not sound correct)

Well done. So how many did you get? Ha ha ha ha
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!

You would get fark all if you did that where we shoot. We get auckland city birds mainly coming out to feed and its always quite by 10am. This was unusually early for birds to be here as it takes awhile to fly from city, probably came from somewhere else.

Picks up again on the afternoon/evening.

    Standard morning-lunch with 3-4 shooters is 250-350.

Excellent is 450-600. Ammo usually dwindles by then
