    Poor rooster

Saw the body on the side of the road when heading up to my trap line at the Park – went a couple of km then came back – picked him up and took him home to rest
Fresh blood so a recent kill – sadly one side is missing some feathers so no good for a tax job - unless someone wants a slight defect
Mindie would have liked to cart it around but I thought best to leave it intact
In the freezer so might be good for a dog trainer – I love pheasants so not sure that I want to part it for several people
Let me know if you want to pick it up – Te Puna area
I saw a hen rise about 1m from a trap that I was about to service – looked over the log to see where the nest was – a very small chick flapped off into some rubbish so I beat a hasty retreat – then about 50m along the track a rooster rose from a few meters away and frightened shit out of me – roosters were calling all round the bush and lots of pairs of Quail all around the trip – checked about 50 traps as I also did a couple of days back and not a sign of a rat – or cat

Had a chef from the UK tell me once that he rated pheasant so highly he'd stop for roadkill... I'm assuming he meant if he was the one who had killed it! Yet to try it myself, haven't had the opportunity (to shoot or stop for roadkill )

I caught one in my possum trap a few weeks ago. Tore his own leg off right in front of me. A real poor bastard that one.
On a positive note, I see him hoping about. Loooks happy enough considering.....Name: 20211018_121031.jpg

Hey! Yep that's me, was looking for my mates Vizsla, he's up in Ngunguru. Recon it would go OK frozen in the post? He comes down to Hamilton for work sometimes and I usually catch up with him, but covid has changed that slightly. I'll touch base with him and see if he's coming down any time soon. Cheers

Is it possible to ship a frozen bird? I have a young pointer that this could help but I’m not sure if you can ship a dead frozen bird, I’m in Whangarei
