    Pre front hunt

Spent most of this morning sporting a hangover which seemed to be getting worse rather than better. I decided the only thing for it was to head out for an afternoon hunt. With the full moon in play right now an evening hunt was looking average but there was plenty of wind and a front approaching so decided I was better off heading out than lying on the couch.

I decided to take out a Beretta Extrema that was purchased before duckshooting instead of my normal Benelli M2. I was a bit nervous about how this hunt might go with less than ideal conditions and a gun I hadn't used before so I left earlier than normal hoping a bit more time in the field might help the odds.

Thankfully things worked out well and I managed a limit bag although I have to admit it took me a lot more shots than I would've with my M2. The ducks are definitely feeling the pressure out there as these ones were very cagey.

The only downside to today was that the bloody dog didn't like being left in the back of the ute while I hunted not far away. Watching the ducks go down which he'd normally retrieve was too much for him and he ripped off the rubber mould around the inside of the canopy window. Thankfully its easily fixable but its still a pain in the arse. Normally I have the dog in a crate but took that out a couple of weeks back to make room for decoys instead of taking a trailer. Two lessons learned today, put the dog crate back in and leave the Beretta at home.
