don't beat on me here too much........see, im looking at the Eotech i got for something that im not going to be using much more, sigh!

but moving right along, am i a heathen for even contemplating putting it on a shotgun that has a rail on it? has anyone else tried, im not even going to mention the shotgun its possibly going on, lets just say its a concept at this stage!

An Eotech may sit too high for a decent cheek weld, an Aimpoint with a low mount may be a better alternative.

to be honest thats all it was going to be for, i cast my own projectiles and have a good load for both solid and buckshot, just thought if it had some vague chance of working i would throw it in the mai mai for duck season??

Um if you are actually aiming your shotty at ducks then you are not doing it right!!
    in saying that
I have shot clays with both a red dot and one of those shotties that look like those evil black rifles. Once you get on to them its quite easy but you do tend to miss a lot as you aim at it rather than shoot where it will be

Had one on a shotgun years ago just because I wanted to try it. It worked fine and I did shoot pretty well with it. I would say it does compensate for an off centre pattern.
BUT the old shotgunner in me said bye bye to it mainly because of the aiming thing. You aren't meant to aim a shotty.
My only defence is I am left eye dominant and it works well with that. It is also a an OEG type so you cant see through it with the right eye and this also suits my left eye thing

have shot thousands of game and lots of targets with a eotech on a saiga 12(barrel mounted), its like cheating as its so efective. those that use a red dot as a focoused aiming point are using them wrong and will realy struggle on a shotgun and are also missing most of the speed gains on a rifle, but if you just look where you want the shot to go(like you would with a shotgun normally) you will do really well. Its one less thing for your brain and body to get right-particurly handy when bouncking along at speed in a ute. The hight over bore is an issue when dealling with game at your feet ranges- Im trialing a holoson with the eotch retical on my versamax now due to this issue

My eotech has the simple red dot, with NV capability but thats really not a benefit here, im going to throw the shotgun in the truck and test it, worst comes to worst i miss a few duck.........nothing new there!!!! i will just use the dot like i do the front sight, will be interesting
