Thread: releasing pheasant or some other birds that don't travel far

    You can let pheasant go, they need cover and food plants though. To keep them in the area you would need to get an automatic feeder, chap breeds them was telling me can get them for about $150. Not all the released hens will nest, and of course if there are stoats and wild cats they will prey on the youngsters so that will cut numbers down too, but if conditions reasonable for gamebirds some will survive and hopefully increase the population.
