Thread: Sagehen Season Again

It opened Saturday, and we got five this weekend. The limit is two/day and four in possession after the opener.

They're a big grouse!





This is some old bum I found walking along the road out in the desert.


The enormous rooster is heading to the taxidermist to replace my old mount the cat tussled with.

They're dark-meated birds, and young ones are great eating. The two next to my old Manufrance 16ga are the old rooster and an old hen. A spooked flock will often fly 2-5 miles off before they sit back down.

That and mourning doves were all that was open at the time. I leave the doves alone anymore and love seeing them return every year.
