I Usually put a first layer on a little closer to opening but the maimai usually has some greenery growing over it year round anyway or else it sticks out a bit much if in amongst other greenery brush manuka is good for breaking up silhouette, but browns off pretty quickly in the heat - 1 month out is my usual with also Camo nets over the frontage whilst a final layer coming in at 2-3 weeks out as a final green cover layer.
Feeders leading up to the time from now to opening probably are of more value keeping residents around and with a home base and a nice feeding apron for them to forage and feed on... they are bloody good at spotting kibbled maize from the air and their own well worn tracks to the water- as you'd expect.
