the things you see bird scouting

took the dogs for a run and thought id check a spot or two out and pop a bunny or two.
let the missus,s potlicker and the new mutt out for a miss and a hit and almost immediatly spy what i thought was another dog.
''give us the lead janet that black bastard will tear into this dog if he see,s it before i can get to him''
well said dog turns out to be a very big black and tan pig against whom i feel very undergunned with the 20 gauge and 4 shot.
i decide disgression and commonsence are the better part of valour and dont after running after it give it a couple of rounds.
which at 40 metres arse on would have just made it angry.
it was rooting up thistles and eating the roots and soft under bits did i mention it was fn big and i should but cant tell you what sex it was.
thankfully the potlicker and new recruit only trailed it for a few moments and came back.i hope my pics via gadgetman do its prints and rooting justice.
cheeky bugger just sauntered off when he/she saw me to and im glad its not my soft bits its dining on.

They look like the pig prints he sent me in an MMS.

You may want to grab some slugs for the 20ga @gsp follower.

Yep solids or even double ought would do the job.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!

true ando came down mid morning with his 270 but mr piggy/piggys had gone to bed.
we reckon theres at least two when we turned up there was 3 times as much rooting damn thistle roots must be tasty.[

    DING DING ROUND 3
I WENT BACK TONIGHT TO GET SOME PINECONES [YEA RIGHT]
GAVE THE DOG A GOOD RUN then took the 20 with some 3 inch 2,s to see if i could ambush piggy on a trail it had been using.
i knew inside 30 metres piggy would be in some serious shit little did i know it would be way closer.
with the wind blowing across they werent gonna smell or hear us and as we sat on a bank screened from hoggys sight by some scrubby pine rubbish .
    soon things got interesting.
yes ando offered to leave his 270 but i says no thanks cos i hate the 270 ever since my unlce gave me a few shots as a 13year old and a short barrelled one sans its left at home suppressor did not fill me with glee.
sabby my lab collie christ knowswhat recruit on a lead does a low growl and i hear movement i think is a rabbit.
bed i hiss at him and go back to day dreaming 5 minutes later he stares in the light scrub and gives two low quick grrs.
i stand up look where he his and there 15 feet away is a large low to the ground fat tan and black spotted boar up comes remy but he,s arse on.
sab does another grr piggy turns and shows me the juncture of his head and neck i let rip and miss him cold.i should have held lower.
piggys feet get the speed wobbles in his haste to vacate the area,no blood no squealing and sab comes back after trailing him down the tunnel/track i discover im been sitting right on the edge of.
bugger doesnt quite do justice to how im feeling so f........k im gutted.
ive killed pigs before and with a shotgun before to but i cant believe i missed.
the only thing i can think of is i shot over his neck when i touched off the 3 incher.
yes with a rifle maybe i could have shot him in the chest but at fifteen feet it would have been messy as shit and what ever i should be hanging pork tonight shotty or not,

The only sensible solution is to carry a AR with you at all times from now on.

Does anyone have a bazooka they can lend this member? I want to see him succeed in this venture even if all he gets is enough mince for a couple of pork patties.

the only thing i can figure is after going over it a thousand times is it was slightly downhill and i was on tip toes.
so i reckon between that and the 3 inchers recoil i shot over his neck he never squealed or showed any sign of bieng hit no blood hair or nothing.
he just exited stage right like snagglepuss.:O_O

mmm i did shoot thru some light cover deflection or muzzle blast from the AR might have had me buggered either way.
i have fired mini thirtys and AR,S before i think they helped start me on the road to hearing loss
i could say 3 inch blackcloud steel is shit on pigs at 15 feet but since i missed completly i dont think that will wash.
there should have been one very dead pig with a fist size hole where his short neck/spine joins his melon.
a shot ive done with a 303 before yesterday at 70yards shame i was aiming for its lungs at the time.
also a 12 gauge with 36 gram lead 3,s after id removed most of a big slab sided sows snout and jaw with the first barrel after she ran up a tunnel at me after breaking bail.
the recoil of a 12 gauge off your knees and the noise in a pig tunnel is quiet something.
i believe she was like 10 feet at the first shot maybe 8 for the 2nd as she turned to go back the way she,d come.
my old hollis nitro reproofed hammergun cos i was pheasant hunting at the time

fear not the .303,7.62x39 .223 plus7.08are awaitng deployment to cure this big bastard of any ideas he has of making our pond home. What GSPF didnt mention is ive got a bloody strong suspicion fatboy and at least one or two of his clan are arriving at the feeding place via tunnels just behind our maimais.a nice lead enema or headache pill from the battery should cure such wanton behaviour. alas it doesnt remedy the problems of a man who mistook a pig for a stray dog.spec savers for you my man.
3yrs ago i had a similar experience on another adjoining pondwith another of our crew,we were at that point just sussing it out and i had dreaded f...n leakin boot syndrome.
jokingly i was packing the trusty escort to protect him from horny hobbits.fuck me this normally serious bloke goes into what resembled an electric puha fuelled zulu war dance causing me to break into a semi submersed geriatric trot.
lo&behold just over the bushes is a brown muddy snout grunting lustily as baby willows got dozed right left and centre.
bugger this escort at high port and "charge of the light brigade "ensues- skid to a halt and sent 3"eley steel greeting-an annoyed grunt and off she tore .
shit a brick I hurtle toward where she was and nearly bloody run over 2 piglets who are off like crusader wingers for the tryline-cunning little shits went opposite each other so left me looking 100%dork!
matey brae reckons its the funniest thing hed seen for quite a while ,until opening day when he spots a large pig turd in the pond.
didnt stop the ducks though -he did ,8 of the buggers!
