I handled a 28g beretta recently, owned by a friend of EBs. While I couldn't justify owning one at this point it was very nice to handle, in fact I wouldn't want any lighter! If I hunted quail exclusively I'd think about it
Lot of the gun geeks reckon the 28g is on par with the 20 for pattern, how do you find it?

Haven't shot it on quail yet but I do shoot a lot of sporting clays with my 20g and tried the inserts. With the same 3/8 and 5/8 chokes I cannot say I missed any I would not have missed with a 20. Even managed to hit the 40 yard crossing targets regularly. Very surprised actually. Can't wait to try it with a couple of 1/4 chokes on quail this year (or even a pheasant over the dogs, if i can find one!)
I use NSI 3/4oz 6's in the 28 from Maimai Supplies, Hunting and fishing have smaller shot but only 2 1/2 inch shells and 17gm payload
