Why i love stubble

I got a call from a mate he said he had found a stubble paddock with 150 geese on it. Awesome! We set up for an evening shoot with 80 deeks and 4 shooters. I opened up a straw bale to grass our blinds.

We missed the first couple mobs while setting up but with a good spread and good calling. Only a couple mobs did not decoy. ended up with 70.

My calling was also mentioned in the latest rod n rifle which was cool!!

They disappear on someones truck never to be seen again. To me shooting geese is like shooting wallabies rabbits goats even tahr. You are shooting animals that need to be controlled. I eat some the rest gets dumped.

so we had another look at the stubble paddock last night and there was another couple hundred geese on it
We decided with the forcasted high winds we would hit it this morning so i set the alarm for 4am as i had a bit to organise.
I wanted to document this hunt with some photos but i got as far as setting up but after that i was to busy calling, shooting, picking up geese, righting decoys as they blow over and also calling and reloading is also very difficult.
we got a couple small groups to start with then all hell broke loose as about 100 geese wanted to land at once. we had to move a couple large mobs on then try and call some back.
it was a good shoot with 65 geese. 135 off the same paddock so far and with the amount of geese we let go i bet we get another shoot in about a week.
We still need to improve accross the board, shooting, spread and when to "cut em". I was shooting better than last time but my stoeger just does not fit me which causes me to miss to often so i thought f@#k it and later that day got a Beretta A400 Extreme Optifade and it fits like a glove.
