Used to, in Chch area too. Work and children have got in the way of it recent years. Also got an unfired gun I plan to use this summer. It's a great way to get a feed.

Yep, got into spearfishing a couple of years ago, haven’t really shot much other than butters yet, in chc, pretty keen to get out as soon as we out of this house arrest business
Good that there is a few floating round. I am actually in Auckland all summer and not really working so plan to make some big trips up to Northland, Coromandel and East Cape. Will check back to this thread around then and could tee up a quick dive with some of ya. Ill bring the beers!

Dorkus and I quite like a beer so could prob sus that out.
Chuck some pics up @jpurdon of your catch/trips etc will increase your chances.
We also like baking and bacon egg pies
I mix n match between tanks and free diving. Here in Nelson it’s about getting good vis, kingis out off the Glen in the summer easy access and spat farms if you’ve got a boat.
Enjoy a kingi hunt , or getting a feed off butters but my heart is still set on hunting crays.
Being to Niue was fantastic warm and clear. Highly recommended!
Nil durum volenti !!
Yeah mate. Queenstown based so south coast, fiordland and west coast swimming.
The majority of my spearfishing has been on great barrier island the last couple of years since we bought a place up there

Yea, obviously popular. I reckon it was because it was after the first cold snap of the winter. Matt Watson has this theory on his FB page that all the big snapper come right in shore after the first real cold snap for the season, I'm definitely going to test the theory next year

Pretty keen on the spearfishing , spending more time teaching the kids how to do it lately which is good fun.
