    Boat Rego Number

Canterbury (ECan)Have a bylaw That all watercraft have to have a identifiable/traceable Number or name on the Vessel. In most cases it being the registered trailer number plate on both sides of the boat . size of font 90 mm min . This bylaws been in since october , first I new of it was the harbourmaster handing out info packs at the boat ramp . Any other regions doing this ? . Im all good with it and will comply , happy its the boat trailer rego as opposed to seperate boat rego that would ultimately have costs attached .

Wonder how that goes with a kayak, dinghy, SUP, etc.
There are only three types of people in this world. Those that can count, and those that can't!

First I have heard of needing a trailer rego number on the side of your boat? You should have a boat name on both sides (can be whatever you make up) and you should have a uhf call sign, if I remember correctly when registering a call sign you have to supply your trailer rego so everything can be traced.

Taupo name of boat on each side to a required size, forget what it is, or a number. Having your rego numbers a bit ugly?

A lot of people don't have a reg call sign , but you are correct you can put that on . Advantage of trailer rego is when you sell boat it goes with it .

Lifejackets have to be worn on any vessel under 6 mts .I consider that rule a no brainer , and needs to be Nation wide

So if I go surfing in Canterbury I need a life jacket and a number on my board? Or only if I use a paddle? Seems fucked up to me

You would need a lot of extra lead on your belt to go diving too
