    Boating on ellesmere

Gday team, we have recently shifted and are now right beside lake ellesmere. Research tells me the lake is only about 2m deep at its deepest point. Is it safe to blat around the lake with an eggbeater? Im thinking if its only 2m deep theres quite posibly really shallow spots even out in the middle?

I grew up at Leeston, Spent a lot of time on the lake as we also had a family batch at Selwyn Huts (ones furthermost from Lake). Fished Selwyn, L2, Harts Creek and Irwell as a kid and later drove over regularly from Ashburton to fish. The fishing is only a shadow of what it was. I remember Coes ford in the late 70's early 80s was a great swimming spot but now not so much
Family had both outboard and jet boats. Its was a great place for a 10 year old. One thing the Lake can get much rougher than you would expect so care required.
Never really found any real shallow spots once well away from the shore

You'd want to run a heat exchanger. Wouldn't want to put Lake Ellesmere water through your engine.
