    Boys fishing weekend

Despite our wives' collective disbelief, we managed to organise ourselves for a boys fishing weekend. We camped at Pouto Point on the Kaipara. Plan was kontiki fishing and off-roading on a Polaris and quad bike. Neither hold particular interest for me, but it was a lot of fun. The kontiki is an efficient way of fishing. We caught more than enough snapper to feed ourselves which was lucky because we ran out of sausages on day one. None of the fish were very big, but good eating size. A large school shark spiced things up a bit.

I hope the rolled quad was staged photo, and not for real. Some nice eating snapper.

It was definitely for real. The guy is an ex semi-professional rally car driver. No injury other than pride. The piss taking was relentless

Good thing seatbealt is not compulsory for quad else outcome would be different.

We had a NZ coroner in the late 1990's pushing for mandatory seatbelts on quads. Fortunately it gained no traction.

Yeah, it was great. We should do more of it, but usual stuff, family, weather, work...

Probably not him, but I wouldn't be surprised. Frosty is the kind of guy who knows someone in every town in the country.
