Broken Rod
Hi all. I've had the misfortune of about 150mm of the tip of a 12ft break off. The broken section is lost so I can't reattach it, I'm wondering if I can fit a top rod eye to the broken end and have a 11 and 1/2 ft rod and still function normally?

or chop it off at the next eye

Done that a coue times.....Works fine.

I've even done it to six weight flyrod.

If I attach a new top rod eye to the broken end should I move the second eye down so its half way between new top eye and third eye down?

Carefully check the end for cracks running down the rod, strong light on it. If there are trim below that, definitely center the remaining eyes. You don't want a big flat spot in the line going out but in reality it likely is more of an aesthetic factor than performance related. The rod will be ever so slightly faster in action due to the removal of the softer end section, but again unlikely to alter much in use.

to reattach a moved eye..bind it with cotton..the use of flytyers bobbin is great here but not essential..then coat liberally with nail varnish etc...

You can get the waxed rod binding thread and flexible binding epoxy from a sports or fishing place usually. I have some here, but likely not much use to you haha.
