Looks like @Dundee will need another 113 trout to get us to a combined 200 As I’ve lost all skill that I may or may not have ever had. Beautiful rivers/trout though…does my soul good to stand on a riverbank.

Man, I just came back from river. Lots of fish jumping but no joy. What size spinner are you using @Dundee? We were using size 3 and it was getting affected a lot with wind and not getting enough distance and the freaking rod I bought have no lure rating on it. I guess I need to try 4-5 let's see if that break its tip.

    What tackle you use ?

not getting enough distance......yeah nah..... fish your feet first bud, there are as many fish on your side of the river as the other side.
always a balancing act,too heavy and no action, too light and harder to cast....find the sweet spot and life is good.

12lb leaders like number 8 wire to trout.Trout have very good eye sight. As the boys above mentioned 6lb a nice number.Even on the fly rod iv used 4lb tippets for gentle presentations on a calm days.

Some nice fish around at the moment in Taupo rivers. Mixture of browns and rainbows.

I've been out a fair bit in the last month with plenty over 5 pounds and a few up over 6 pounds. Will post some pictures later on.

Would have thought that education would have been the better option here than spying from afar to 'catch' someone helping their kids learn to fish...
