It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms
Perhaps, would need to hear their side of the story. They may have determined that the parent wasn't in fact helping the child. Then on top of that $24 for a day licence isn't much when it's free for the kids. Her responsibility for knowing the regs, no one elses. Going by the photos I'm sure she could have afforded it.

There are plenty of perch in the lagoon on centennial drive, spinning the fitzherbert ave end will definitely get a perch biting
@Inder
Was trying to give an easy kid fishing spot but this response is about a page and a half below that post so tried tagging you
It may or may not work
Perch very average if eaten

I hear you, may be right but like most news stories these days written without all sides of the story with sensationalism to achieve outrage. I'll give the officer the benefit of the doubt, he has enough tearing strips off him already. I feel her pain but we all know or should know there's no honest mistakes with fish and game (ducks etc). She should have saved the headache for all and paid $24 while doing her kids one.
Hi @gerwyn.woods If you talking about Hokowithu Lagoon, we did try that but on the other end. We are very near to lagoon so can try again on this end. Maybe tomorrow weather permitting.
What do you use to catch perch? I have no idea.

They must have done something to improve the lagoon if you can fish it. As a teenager in the 70's it was always a cesspit: Stagnant water, 2 foot of duckshit and weed. Only good for catching 6 foot eels in.
Yeah you can definitely catch perch, I’ve done it, decent size, I even tried eating them (once)
I’ve heard there is the odd trout but I’ve not seen or caught one
A silver spinner will be good, they do like a fast initial speed to gain the attention then slow up so they can actually bite them

I've only caught a couple of perch and both on softballs, imitating a trout color
@Inder - try frozen prawns or soft baits in the lagoon on dusk for the perch. Marton reservoir is another good spot for perch but the water levels are pretty low there at the moment.
