Thread: catfish as bait?

When the wind and weather are no good for a fish. A mate and I go bow fishing for koi carp which is fantastic bait and burley.

We met a commercial fisherman called Shane who Fyke nets for eels. He let us raid his net if we promised to leave all of his eels alone.

we didn't even get halfway through the net because our 20L bucket was full. we got 123 cats and so there must have been at least 300!


We minced most of them up as burley and will test it this evening.


Has any one used it as bait or burley? does it work or is just good for sharks?

we used the burley. we neglected to tie it to the anchor so didn't seem to du much. we caught 7 legal snapper off the cat fish fillets and they seemed to like it.

We bought a fyke net as you can catch shit loads with little effort and it works!
