    Cracker Afternoon

Well the forecast was a good one for a spot of fishing so the wife and I shot down to Pukehina for a quick fish. The fish were biting and we had one before we had both rods in the water.
We ended up with 7 nice fish all Kawhai but no snapper. The sea was near perfect and a nice off shore wind to keep things flat. got home and took the fillets off and cooked a few a for dinner, very nice, couldn't be much fresher than that.Name: A few Kawhai.jpeg

Good stuff, any fish from shore is well earned I recon.
Do you sashimi Kahawai? I wouldnt do it to the lot but the top loin of a couple of fresh very cold chilled fillets is divine.

Yeh I bet she is a bit chilly down your way, the water up here is 18 degrees at moment so it's a bit on the cold side, we are getting the cold wind from down your way.

Went down again tonight and fished for a few hours, supposed to be a good evening on the change of light, beautiful evening again and the missus caught a nice gurnard and a small kahawai, still a good evening on the beach.

vasty underrated as eating fish..bleed them straight away ,gut soon as posible and for goodness sake get the bloodline/kidney out of back of belly cavity properly.the same goes for trout and its not doing so that gets them the name of mudfish....
enjoy your fillets ,you deserve them.
