Thread: A cracker winters morning on the water

Got a msg from a mate on sunday arvo, the sea forecast for monday was looking good, he'd taken a days leave and was taking the dingy out for a fish, so a quick check of mondays schedule and im good to go.

True to the forecast the day was a ripper and the sea flat and winds very light.

So we jetted out to a mark 23 miles out of Napier that my mate hadnt been to for many years.

Two other boats were hauling up fish at the same spot on our arrival, so we dropped the pick and drifted back over some foul ground on the sounder.

Within seconds of my first bait landing on sea floor 100 m below us we had bites and the first 100m haul up began.

A good solid Tarakihi was put in the bin. The four of us repeated this time and time again, and after 2 hours of great fishing action we called it a day, at 40 Tarakihi and a couple of panny snapper.

A great morning on the water on a glorious day, and a good feed of fresh fish for all our families. Happy days!
