So did that “cray” in the beginning shots find its way onto the menu?

Very cool. I'd love to dive there one day. Looks like there's lots of black coral in the first few dives.
The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds

I find that hard to watch. Fiordland should be off limits to the taking of crayfish and other species, both recreationally and commercially. This is one place in NZ where we could leave the sea life alone and stop stuffing them into fish bins. I know about the other reserves around NZ, but down there it's different and should be saved from exploitation.

Lots of crays in places there and in some places it’s barren.
Wasn’t me doing the diving I was just editing it together for a mate.
Filmed on my dirty old GoPro 3
Heaps of black coral in places and is defiantly on my to do list to go for a dive there!!

It is probably the best managed crayfishery in the country (now)

    Nice video
I like to use a lift bag or float on a line attached to my catch bag especially when going deep or big.
That way I dont have to ascend with the bag dangling or catching in my kit or legs....and it gives you an ascent line and tells your boat person that your on your way up and where.

Smart idea, always use one when scallop diving, tells the boats where you are and your not using your BCD as an aid. My old dive supervisor told me of a story that he had to be a expert witness to. A husband and wife team who had used their BCD's to get to the surface. Once on the surface the wife's catch bag caught on her BCD and down she went, husband was out of air and couldn't help her. Tragic! On my boat you have to have 500psi (35Bar) left when you have finished your dive because of this and as well it might be handy to recover a stuck anchor.

Yeah ...bad idea to use a bcd as an ascent aid
Once you see surgical emphysema from being bent you'll know why
