Well I did the fishing comp weather was crap squally showers was even worse on Saturday which stopped me from going near the harbour mouth to the spot where joyce caught a good sized snapper the weekend before in our new boat.
So end result for Saturday a lot of travelling around the harbour trying different areas, on Sunday got up to 1.5M swell while we were anchored around the corner from the harbour mouth in the Te waitere channel the boat handled it rather well plus the slightly worse stuff as we had to re enter the main kawhia channel when we had to get out of there (was pretty cool having the boat riding the back of the swell all the way back to calmer waters to keep the rest of it off our arses) end result for sunday Joyce caught a 0.925kg gurnard that took third place which got her a nice 5ft rod and overhead combo along with a nice trev to go into the smoker to keep the kahawai I caught company which we got nowhere in those sections and my last ditch effort to catch something other than a kahawai to weigh in on the final day resulted in a 0.955kg gurnard that took 1st place which I caught an hour and a half before closing time for the weigh in and earned me a really nice straylining combo. Other than the shit weather and wet arses we had a good time.
