Electric reel - power supply options?

How are people here powering their reels, are they using the boats battery or is there anyone here using power banks for this?

My boat only has a single battery and rather than install a second one I’m considering buying a portable jump starter/battery bank to double as the ‘house’ battery and run the reel, phones etc. It could also be used to start the boat (or ute) in the event of a flat start battery.

Any words of wisdom or power bank recommendations from forum members?

Would you not be fishing on the drift with the engine running? If so wouldn't be an issue to run off the main start battery.

I've got a dual batt setup but my boats to small to go hunt the deep water....my second batt is a medium agm and is just used as a total loss system and charge at home.....I haven't got a electric reel but I imagine it would handle a day on a charge as it will easily do 2 days running sounder and stereo.

Yip - no issues when its running which would likely be most of the time hence I'm reluctant to install a second battery.

The battery bank option would allow me to have all the benefits of a second battery on board but be more versatile as I can use it across several vehicles.

Mate was using one of those little battery jump back things, works a treat. I actually just brought one of the little batteries that you strap to the rod, bloody great because you aren't hooked up to the boat...was about $400 but you should get a couple days out of it.

Yeah I have the same question as Beaker, How many amp hrs was the battery? I have the 9000 beastmaster as well and was shocked to learn what the max current draw was. I know the 4000 model listed below is not the same as the OPs but I would expect similar current draw.

The Shimano electric reels draw the below amperages

    Dendau Maru 4000 - 10 amp

    Beast master 9000 - 35 amp

So for me that's less than 30min run time out of my 12 A/hr Lithium kontiki battery.

I know when you have a couple of good blue nose on in 220m, the reel fare grunts.
Happy to have it hooked to the house battery!
