    Fish finder / GPS recommendations

I've just upgraded the outboard on my boat to a Suzuki 60hp but i also want to replace the fish finder it's a hummingbird and has not been reliable for a long time. It also has a Furuno GP32 gps that works ok
There are so many different options out there. I don't want to break the bank but I also don't want something that is not user friendly and works well
What would be the better options, fish finder or fish finder/chart plotter. budget around $7/800 but could do a bit more for the right thing

I think they're all pretty good now. I've used Garmin and Simrad a lot over recent years and Humminbird before that. Each have their quirks, but they all do the job. Since you asked for a specific recommendation: https://www.burnsco.co.nz/fishing/el...hd2-combo-gt20

Yeah mate…Garmin for sure… they are not cheap… but they generally come loaded with so many other features that are absolutely essential for boating in the open water

I would like to help but sadly we have nothing less than $2500. In fact that is the cheapest small unit we do.
I would look at Garmin as their support (once you can contact an actual real person) is really good.
Simrad and Lowrance may have somthing in that price bracket.
Simrad is more intuitive for kiwis to operate. Lowrance generally more intuitive for US operators. Its just the way the menus etc are arranged.

I've got a Garmin hds5 which I'm looking at rehoming soon since I upgraded to a bigger screen. Let me know if your interested and I'll post a couple of pics. It's probably done about 50hrs runtime total. I will be looking for around 800 for it. I found the 5 inch screen a bit small for running in split screen mode but if ya only doing 1 thing at a time it will be fine
