3 Salmon caught over 2 evenings and one mornings fishing.
2 Released but had to keep the last as swallowed hooks and bleeding from gills, leaves me one "slot" just in case I make it back down.
Not very big this year all were around 6-7lbs

Yeah the rat kings are everywhere this time of year if we don't get any rain events.
Snapper are everywhere and especially in golden Bay this time of year.
They are so hungry to fatten up after the spawn and so numerous that they can even be caught without bait tho this is much less effective.

All this New Zealand fish catching is rubbish and I chalk it all up to photoshop. I’m leaving to go see the americas where the fish fight like wet rags and I used to be able to catch em oh so many moons ago.
PS: I gotta feeling I’ll be wishing I was back here at “home” after a day or two. Get em boys!!
Took Dad and my Uncle out for a flounder drag this morning.
Beautiful morning for it, old blokes kept dry, flounder dog had a ball.
Couple stingrays....one big bugger was stalking me I think!
He changed course when about 40cm from me and I slapped the water a few times.( jumped around and squeeled like a little girl).
20 fat flatties for not much work and another hole or 2 in the net.

Its not what you get but what you give that makes a life !!
Took my neighbour, Mike out for a fish yesterday. We had a good day on the snapper, but it was topped off by a good trevally for him. Even better, being a bit old school, he doesn't eat them, so sashimi for me!
My niece and her partner were over for a visit, so I threw them and my boy in the wagon, and we headed off down to the water for a quick flounder session.
We were a bit early for the tide, so while we waited it out, my boy saw a flounder in the shallows so pounced on it. At least we had one if it all went pear shaped later...
Tihe tide dropped, so the net went in. Niece on the shallow end resulted in a nice haul of weed and fish.
Dipped in for a second drag again with good success. Nieces.boyfriend didn't have a chance of getting on the net.after her successful first drag
About to dip in for a final drag, and a random @Pengy waddled up the beach and checked the haul.
Net back into the bin, guts out of fish and back to the wagons for a yarn and a dry off before sharing the fish with a local fisherman who had been out spinning for a fish,
The local Penguin bartered for a few fish before we all headed home for a late tea.
Several flounder are now in the freezer, chilling off ready for the kids' trip home down south tomorrow.
Niece had never netted fish before, so it was a blast watching her face (and the boyfriends) as the net was dragged on land and revealed its plunder.
